Philosophy

Preparation

A key to success in piano performance is proper preparation. We prepare students for success at the piano by first training them in three areas: melody, rhythm and harmony. We teach students to sing on pitch (melody), to dance and drum rhythms, and to recognize underlying harmonies in music through listening activities and the playing of bar instruments. These elements are part of every pre-school and beginning keyboard program we offer.

Group Classes

We have discovered that teaching children in groups is a wonderful way to learn to play the piano. Groups offer a stimulating environment in which to share enthusiasm for learning, to explore new skills, to enjoy playing together. Too often piano lessons become tedious for young children, a major factor contributing to a high drop-out rate. The social atmosphere of a group lesson helps children to relax and enjoy playing together.

Commitment

Our goal is to guide children and families through the process of becoming proficient pianists. Because this requires commitment of both the child and the parent, we seek families who are willing make a mutual commitment to practice daily. Our efforts in class coupled with regular practice at home will bring about success, guaranteed!

Music For a Lifetime

In an increasingly de-sensitized society, we find great satisfaction in assisting parents in raising children who have a sense of culture, and who develop their natural sensitivity to beauty. The world is full of cheap, trivial music--and children will develop a taste for it unless we introduce them to something better. It is our desire to share beautiful musical experiences with your family that will enable you to pursue music as a source of enjoyment that will last a lifetime.
