Studio Policies
Payment
Tuition is due either at the beginning of each semester, or in five monthly installments due the first lesson of each month. A $10 late fee will be added for payments received after the due date.
Parking
Parents are asked to park on Heather Road, leaving spaces on Skyline Drive for our family cars.
Waiting Area
There is seating in the studio for parents to observe lessons. Siblings may attend with parents provided they sit quietly with parents. We ask that siblings not wander into my home during lesson time but remain with parents. Please see that cell phones are turned off when in the studio.
Daily Practice
Regular daily practice is a vital element of musical training. We ask that Kindergarten students listen to their Listening CD daily and fulfill simple assignments at home with their families. We provice a colorful practice sheet for them to record their achievements each week. Piano Students are expected to practice ten minutes for each grade level in school. Hence, First graders would practice ten minutes daily, Second graders twenty minutes, and so forth. We send home a weekly outline that students return at their next lesson. Students grade their practice and record the weekly grade on a record sheet in their individual notebooks. In addition, a record is kept of pieces that have been successfully passed off. At a glance, students and parents can see the students' progress toward reading and playing proficiency on this simple record sheet.
Missed Lessons
We do not offer make-up lessons. However, we do email assignments to students when they miss a lesson so they can keep up with the class.
